Description: The Brittany (or Brittany Spaniel) is a compact, closely knit dog of medium size, leggy in appearance. The Brittany Spaniel is strong, vigorous, energetic and has quick movement. The Brittany Spaniel can be tail-less or have their tails docked to approximately four inches. The Brittany's first love is birds then people. A Brittany Spaniel makes an excellent pointing bird dog because of their keen sense of smell. They are the only spaniel that points to game. Agreeable with children and other pets. Should not be rough-housed with.

The Brittany Spaniel is said to have come from France in the province of Brittany. They were first exhibited in the early 1900s in France and made their way to the United States in 1931.
