Description: The Pharaoh Hound appearance is of grace, power and speed. They are medium sized and of noble bearing with hard, clean-cut lines. A sight and scent hound, the Pharaoh Hound is an intelligent and affectionate dog who is playful and enjoys a good run. Unique to the Pharaoh Hound is the characteristic of "blushing" when excited; their nose and ears will turn a rosy color.

History: The Pharaoh Hound is one of the oldest domesticated dogs they can traces their lineage to about 3,000 B.C. They were thought to have been taken to Malta and Gozo by the Phoenicians then on to Sicily. First imported to the United Kingdom in the 1920s it was not until 1968 when they gained recognition. They were not introduced to North American until the 1960s.
